We first learned about basic tooth types and their functions. Then we each created a set of teeth, using colored marshmallows to show the different placement of our molars, canines, and incisors. Our next lesson included learning the layers of a single tooth. Below students created a tooth model using a plastic egg covered in clay. The outer white layer is our enamel, then opening the egg showing the inside of a tooth reveals the dentin (blue), pulp (yellow) and nerves (red).
